Our Philosophy

Work Hard, Swim Fast, Have Fun!

The foundation of being is enhanced by hard work. A byproduct of this hard work will result in fast swimming. The faster we swim the more fun we can have.

Mission Statement

The Madison Mariners is a competitive YMCA swim team that serves competitive swimmers ages six and up. The Mariners will always promote self-responsibility and self-improvement with the offering of high level of coaching, training and preparation in and out of the pool for the athlete that desires to compete at a high level.

Members of the Madison Area YMCA Mariners are not only swimmers…they are athletes.

Extra Programs

High School Pre-Season - This is a 10 week intense progression that meets the same time as the Mariner Senior Team at FDU.  The focus here is to improve skill sets through advanced drills, and aerobic conditioning.  Participants will do 30 minutes of dry training in sneakers, and 90 minutes of pool training with fins, paddles, and Finis snorkels.  Athletes that choose to participate in this program will train and prepare for the High School season only, they will not participate in Mariner Swim meets.  The cost for this program is $400.  There are limited number of spots so if you are interested please contact John Gullotta or Lisa Boettrich.

Mariner Prep Team - Open to athletes who have tried out for the Mariner swim team that would like to continue to improve technique.  The focus of these sessions is to improve balance, support and techniques commonly used for competitive swimming.  One session per week will be devoted to specific stroke refinement. The other weekly session will apply these techniques and incorporate them into endurance building.  Each group assigned by Coach John meets twice a week from 3:30 to 4:00 for 20 weeks.

The Madison Area YMCA serves Madison, The Chathams, Florham Park, Millington, Gillette, Stirling, Green Village,
